Refurbishment of water treatment works, wastewater pipelines and pumping stations, completed in 98 weeks.
A construction manager who knows his clients and their requirements better than they know themselves, Andy Taylor made clear that nothing was too much trouble on this tight-deadline framework to refurbish a series of water supply, wastewater pipelines and pumping stations across multiple sites. His high standards, good technical understanding – in particular of the bespoke control gear required for the works – and attention to detail ensured regulatory compliance for the client.
About the Project
South West Water AMP7 Framework, Plymouth
Refurbishment of water treatment works, wastewater pipelines and pumping stations, completed in 98 weeks.
A construction manager who knows his clients and their requirements better than they know themselves, Andy Taylor made clear that nothing was too much trouble on this tight-deadline framework to refurbish a series of water supply, wastewater pipelines and pumping stations across multiple sites. His high standards, good technical understanding – in particular of the bespoke control gear required for the works – and attention to detail ensured regulatory compliance for the client.
A fine communicator, he not only gave his team of 35 clear direction and guidance, but also mentored and supported the junior members. He led by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic in striving to achieve the client’s targets and expectations.
Andy’s biggest challenge on this scheme was the unstable cost and availability of materials, many of which were needed on a day-to-day basis. This put increased pressure on timely procurement, supply chain relationships and innovation to ensure the project was still completed on time and to budget.
