Meet the Finalists
2025 | High Rise Accommodation

When the client awards its first-ever 100% satisfaction score to a main contractor, the construction manager has nailed the job.
About the Project
New Victoria
Matt Legg saw off multiple major challenges on this pair of towers in a tight city centre location that demanded constant diplomatic but decisive engagement with Network Rail and other powerful stakeholders. He facilitated 15 service diversions and disconnections before construction began. He rerouted a sewer via a pair of massive 14m-deep shafts. And he incorporated a £5m link-bridge variation mid-construction.
When Network Rail insisted the project’s piles exert no force whatsoever on its culvert under the site, threatening to halt the scheme altogether, he found a solution. The relieving slab structure added nine weeks to the programme and £350k to the budget but kept the project moving.
Matt cultivated robust relationships with the client and the professional and project team. But what really won minds and hearts was his responsiveness, dependability and solutions focus.
And then there was his completion – to budget and with impressive quality – of the whole enormous scheme a thumping 24 weeks early. Thanks to Matt, that 100% satisfaction score has been accompanied by the client’s awarding Vinci a £90m regeneration project and a £100m office development.
