Meet the Finalists
2025 | Low Rise Accommodation

Stephen McGinty’s dousing of community hostility to this development is a powerful marker of his leadership ability. He reassured residents, won their trust and engaged in open dialogue while always being realistic in what he could offer. When he arrived on site, his introduction of a robust logistics and traffic management methodology mitigated disruption and helped ease strained relationships.
About the Project
The Brixton Hill Project
With very little site storage available apart from a loading gantry, the island plot on an extremely busy road in South London required meticulous management of just-in-time deliveries. He split and resequenced concrete pours to reduce the amount of formwork on site and reduce crane time.
He delivered the first residential block early to assure purchase grant aid for tenants. His careful coordination ensured that the first resident cohort could move in on schedule, and he seamlessly integrated ongoing work on the subsequent phases.
Three subcontractors went into administration during the project and Stephen had to assist two others in completing their works. He drove the remeasuring and retendering of works, and condensed the remainder of the fitout, to still hit completion on time.
It was enough to secure that greatest of prizes for a contractor: repeat business, with the client’s award of a 274-home new-build contract
