With a weighty back catalogue of experience that includes several care home completions, Andy Canning offered a reassuringly safe pair of hands for a client building its first ever extra-care facility.

Arriving at the project just six weeks before site start, Andy brought his expertise immediately to bear. By introducing temporary waterproofing to the floor-level cavities and precast joints, he was able to flip the programme and gain a princely nine weeks by starting internal works before the block was fully watertight. He also overcame the technical difficulty of cutting the rear of the block into the ground while still maintaining the Premier Guarantee requirements.
Andy built a fine relationship with the client. He offered samples and a room mock-up – right down to socket and heating locations – along with computer-generated imagery for the bathrooms and physical samples. He put a lot of effort into assisting the client with the aesthetic and cost considerations when making choices.
Despite the site having limited access in a residential area with four schools nearby, he kept neighbours and stakeholders happy. It made for a very successful end product and satisfied client. The ultimate proof of Andy’s professional and positive approach is that he is now delivering another large and complex residential development for the client.
