BAM Construction

Chris Scoins’ logistics mastery drove success on this phased demolition of an existing school building and construction of a new main block while the live school continued in a temporary facility just metres away from the works.

About the Project

The Elizabeth Lee Building - Exmouth Community College

In preconstruction, he challenged the foundation design with a cost-saving cut-and-fill strategy that incorporated crushed demolition rubble into the final scheme. This allowed Chris to build the access road without 2,000 cubic metres of imported fill, eliminating a huge amount of construction traffic from the site and the surrounding roads.

Ensuring the safe movement of school staff and students was crucial. Chris had every school holiday and non-pupil day written on his heart, squeezing every minute out of that user downtime, along with evenings, weekends and early mornings, for service diversions and site deliveries. His thorough planning was happily synched with excellent communication of his plans to the live school and the supply chain.

Nothing was ever too much for Chris, and he proactively found solutions to the issues that arose. Every aspect of the completed building declares his dedication to delivering a high-quality finish, achieved through drilling standards into the supply chain, constructing quality-benchmark sample rooms, and giving the client access to the snagging software and findings
