Jason Sims MCIOB
Caddick Construction

A one-company man for nearly 40 years, Jason Sims secured this scheme in the tender.

In unpicking the design and rebuilding the project, he impressively channelled all that experience.

About the Project

One City Park, Bradford

On a logistically challenged site in the heart of the city, his questioning of the need for a tower crane and opting instead to erect the steel frame with mobile cranes ultimately saved the project £275,000. A rotating telehandler and nine mast climbers provided installation platforms and distributed materials and equipment during the construction phase.

When a very large gas main cropped up in a significantly different position to the preconstruction information supplied, he worked tirelessly to get it diverted quickly. His early and unremitting efforts eliminated the project horror of an 18-week delay.

And when one of his most highly valued supply chain partners, the contractor for the bespoke and technically challenging curtain walling, went out of business partway through the project, he removed the threat to the build programme by persuading Caddick to buy the business. The move has also given Caddick the valuable business differentiator of a facade capability.

Jason’s attention to detail, problem-solving skills and collaborative approach ensured delivery on time and within budget. The twin clients are delighted with the completed project.
