About the Rising Star Award

Celebrating the latest talent in the construction industry

Highlighting the best new talent In the UK, the Rising Star Award considers entries for individuals who have shown exception promise and demonstrated excellence in their work, the industry and amongst their peers in the early stages of their construction career.  The nomination is open to both CIOB members and non-members who have been in the construction industry for 5 years or less.

Rising stars stand out from the crowd and make a real impact on their project, employer, team and the industry as a whole. Our stringent judging panel takes all areas of the application into consideration to decide on our Rising Star.

How to Enter

What you will need to complete your application or make a nomination

To enter, click 'Enter Now'. Then, select the award that you would like to enter and fill in your details. Once submitted, you will receive an email which will contain a link to your CIOB Awards portal. The portal will contain the form for the award that you have selected to enter.

The award considers entries from individuals that have been in the construction industry for 5 years or less.

Please note you may not nominate yourself.

The submission deadline for this award is 30 September 2024.

What we’re looking for

 The judges will look for:

  • Evidence of working in the built environment for a period of less than 5 years.
  • Role of the candidate.
  • Career achievements to date.
  • How has this candidate made a mark on the employer, industry and their colleagues?
  • Why is this candidate different from others in a similar position?
  • What makes them stand out in a business?
  • How does this candidate demonstrate the values of Professionalism, Integrity, Excellence and Respect? This could be in their work, industry, amongst their peers and/or within society.

Below you will find the information you will be asked to provide as part of your entry. The entry form consists of three sections. You may prepare your answers in advance and submit them at once after you register or work on them over time, making sure you save your progress every time you update the form.

Can I nominate myself for this award?

No, you cannot nominate yourself for this award.

How many years of experience in the industry does the nominee require?

We ask that nominees have less than 5 years of experience in the industry. This award recognises the talent of those new to working in the built environment.

Who can enter the Rising Star Award?

Highlighting the best new talent, the Rising Star Award considers entries from individuals who have shown exceptional promise and demonstrated excellence in their work, the industry and amongst their peers. It is free to enter and open to CIOB members and non-members.

Who is eligible to enter this award?

Rising Star candidates can be nominated by anyone who is familiar with their work achievements.
