Another Award? Why Bother?
CMYA are not like any other awards. Our in-depth judging process ensures that the calibre of winners is consistently high. They showcase the best of the best talent in the UK and Ireland, and have real prestige. CMYA winners are natural leaders who have helped to shape the industry that we have today.
Our marketing department is a very small, how can we compete with bigger rivals when compiling entries?
CMYA is not about fluffy marketing. Our judges are concerned with the skills and talents of the individual. That’s why they visit every shortlisted site and take time to understand the challenges and environment in which the construction manager had to work.
It’s during the in-depth interview that the candidate’s real capabilities are fully evaluated.
We’re concerned that our top talent might get poached if they win an award
People like to be appreciated, and a little bit of praise goes a long way. Showing that you believe in and value your employees is not only good for company loyalty – it may even attract newcomers to your organisation.
Prestigious prizes motivate management teams, impress clients and can only enhance your corporate image.
We’re so busy chasing new business, we don’t have time to enter the awards
People are a company’s greatest asset, and having management that regularly win prizes is a smart way of gaining the trust and interest of new clients.
Gold or silver medallists are an asset to any bid team. In fact to be named as a CMYA finalist is a feat to be proud of.
They are living proof that a company can deliver a project not only on time and on budget, but with a finesse that will surprise and delight the most demanding clients.
Can you afford NOT to enter?
I’m not a member of CIOB, am I eligible to enter?
Absolutely. CMYA is open to the construction manager of any project that was completed between 12 March 2015 and 5 March 2016. On average, roughly half of our entrants are non-CIOB members.
Who is this competition open to?
The competition is open to site-based and non site-based managers with overall responsibility for delivery of construction projects. This includes managers of individual subcontract packages or a site within a multisite PFI project where the manager has responsibility for the construction phase.
My company is very small, and the contract was very small, is it worth me entering?
Yes. Entries are welcome from managers of any construction projects employed by companies of all sizes. Our judges recognise that construction managers of small projects will face very different pressures to those on large projects.
We’re not sure that our project is eligible, how can we find out?
If your questions aren’t answered by our guidelines, contact us. We’ll be happy to advise you.
